EndNote Reference Manager Upgrade Coming Soon

by Wail Kailani on 2025-12-05T13:28:00-06:00 in Writing & Publishing | 0 Comments

EndNote, a reference manager software package licensed by Mayo Clinic for institutional use, is being upgraded from version 21.5 to 2025. Beginning on December 16th, launching EndNote from Mayo Dock will install version 2025, the latest available version. Improvements in the latest version include:

  • AI-enabled document summaries
  • A research assistant chatbot that answers questions based on your documents
  • Improvements to Find Reference Updates and Find Full Text tools
  • Find a Journal tool to discover places to publish

EndNote is a powerful tool for collecting, managing, and citing references. It integrates into multiple Microsoft Office tools, simplifying the writing process. Mayo Clinic Libraries can deliver literature search results in EndNote format, which makes it easier to manage large article sets and gather PDFs. EndNote can also automatically retrieve PDFs from many publishers. Nomad, the browser plugin provided by the library, can also export citations into EndNote for faster bibliography building. See the library’s complete guide for more details about how EndNote can help you with the research process.

Mayo Clinic maintains an institutional license for EndNote. You can install this software on any PC connected to the Mayo network from the Mayo Dock. Mac users can install EndNote on Mayo-owned Macs using the Self Service tool.

Mayo Clinic’s license also allows staff and learners to install EndNote on their personal computers.  Detailed instructions for downloading and installing both the PC and Mac versions of EndNote on your personal computer are available on the library’s EndNote guide.

If you have questions about EndNote or other library resources, please contact the library at library@mayo.edu or 507-284-2061.
