EndNote: EndNote Search Interface

Using EndNote--Mayo Clinic's licensed bibliographic database manager

How do I use EndNote to search external databases?

EndNote includes a special interface which allows users to connect to remote databases, such as Ovid MEDLINE and PubMed.

WARNING: The direct interface allows only rudimentary searching; it's good for searching by specific authors or to verify references for a manuscript. Don't rely on it for doing a comprehensive literature search; search PubMed or Ovid, and then import the results into EndNote (see How do I download citations from Ovid for use in EndNote?).

To search a database in EndNoteX8:

1) Click on the Online Search button or choose Online Search from the Tools menu.

2) Select the database from the list of connections.

3) Use the search box at the top of the EndNote library to search.
