Communication Aids for Patients with auditory or speech challenges

  • Amplified Listeners - (Pocketalker) amplifies sounds closest to the listener while reducing background noise. Ideal for one-on-one conversation, small-group, and television listening, or conversing in the car. Use with or without hearing aids. Plug in your earpiece, position the microphone near the preferred sound, adjust the volume to your comfort – and start listening.

 

 

  • Picture Board - patients can communicate with providers through by pointing at pictures, spelling words or circling images with a dry erase marker.

 

  • Voice Amplifier - a wireless microphone that helps patients with speech issues to project their voice.

 

  • Whiteboards - small whiteboard and marker can be used to help patients communicate with their care team when speaking is difficult.
