Libby E-Books and Audiobooks at Mayo Clinic: Using the Libby App and Website

  • This collection of over 1,000 titles supports the needs of staff working both on campus and remotely.
  • A wide variety of topics are available, including AI, leadership, business, parenting, self-help, nutrition and more.   
  • Standard checkout time is 21 days.  Items will return automatically when they are due.
  • Items will download to your device automatically when on WiFi to save data. 
  • Libby books can be downloaded to your Kindle.
  • If the item you want is checked out, you can place a hold and be notified when it's available.

Using the Libby App

Already have Libby through your public library?  You can add the Mayo Clinic Libraries to your existing Libby app using your Mayo Clinic email and Microsoft Authenticator.

  • Tap Menu Menu to add another library card.
  • Click "Add Library" and follow the instructions below.

To install the Libby App:

  1. Install Microsoft Authenticator on your device if not already available.
  2. Open the app store on your device and search for "Libby".
  3. Install the Libby app. When asked to select a library, search for "Mayo Clinic Libraries".
  4. When asked to sign in, enter your Mayo Clinic email address in the Microsoft sign-in window.
  5. Browse the digital collections, or search using the magnifying glass icon. 
  6. When you find a title you want, just click "Borrow".

Using the Libby Website

To use the Libby website, follow these instructions: 

  1. Browse to https://libby.mayo.edu
  2. Click "Sign in with my Card", then click "Next".
  3. Enter your Mayo Clinic email address in the Microsoft sign-in window.
  4. If prompted to login to login.mayo.edu, enter your LANID and password.
  5. Browse the digital collections, or search using the magnifying glass icon. 
  6. When you find a title you want, just click "Borrow".

Browse the audiobook collection

Visit this page to browse the Mayo Clinic Libraries audiobook collection..

  • Click "Borrow" to check out an audiobook.
  • Click "Place Hold" to be notified when the audiobook is returned.  When notified, you may borrow the title or decline at that time, keeping your place in line for the title.

Navigating in Libby

Both the website and the app use a set of common icons at the bottom of the screen:

  • Tap Search search to search for titles.
  • Tap Library Library to open the library collection you were most recently browsing.
  • Tap Menu Menu to customize your settings, add another library card, get help, and more.
  • Tap Shelf shelf to see your loans, holds, and tags for all your libraries.
  • Tap Timeline timeline to see your timeline of loans and holds.

  • View the complete listing of your available libraries.
  • Tap each specific library to view their collection.  A star will appear on the Library you are currently searching.
  • Click "Settings" to manage notifications and customize your experience in Libby.
  • Tap "Add Library" to add another library location.
  • Click "Manage Cards" to delete or rename a card.
  • Tap "Take Our Survey" to answer a quick survey about Libby.
  • Tap Get Some Help to search for answers to your questions, find solutions to common problems, or suggest an idea.

Browse the eBook collection

Visit this page to browse the Mayo Clinic Libraries eBook collection..

  • Click "Borrow" to check out the eBook.
  • Click "Place Hold" to be notified when the eBook is returned.  When notified, you may borrow the title or decline at that time, keeping your place in line for the title.
