New Exhibit Featuring Hattie Damon Mayo in the Historical Suite

The Mayo Clinic Archives is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit featuring Hattie Damon Mayo in the Plummer 3 Historical Suite.

A multi-talented and well-read woman who loved music, dancing, and travel, Hattie was an accomplished painter with a flair for architecture. Though she did not seek fame, she became well-known to Rochester visitors through her warm hospitality to those whom Dr. Will Mayo invited to their home.

Photographs and artifacts, including many not previously exhibited, have been brought together courtesy of the Mayo Foundation House, the History Center of Olmsted County, and the Mayo Archives collections. Two fabric artifacts worn by Hattie will rotate in and out of the exhibit in six-month intervals to protect the fragile materials from over-exposure to light and environmental elements. A finely woven scarf will be displayed through January 10, 2025, when a fabulous black chiffon beaded dress will replace it.

The exhibit will run through July 30, 2025, and is open to all Mayo staff and students.
