Finding Full Text Articles Online: "get it!" in PubMed

Tools for finding full text articles at the Mayo Clinic Libraries

How do I get the FullText (SFX) button in PubMed?

Getting access to the Mayo Clinic Libraries' full text access to journal articles is easiest through the get it! button.

You can make sure you have Get It! button in PubMed in two ways:

1. Use the link on the Libraries' home page to access PubMed

The link on the Libraries' home page uses a special link to take you to the Mayo version of PubMed. If you use this link (instead of going directly to www.pubmed.gov or another route), you will always see get it! button.

2. Associate your My NCBI account with the Mayo Clinic Libraries

If you already have a My NCBI account set up, this is simply another feature that you can use. Each time you access PubMed and are logged into My NCBI, regardless of how you get there, the get it! button will appear. PLEASE NOTE: If you are off campus and not using VPN to get on the Mayo Clinic network, you may see get it! but you will not be able to access the full text of journal articles through Mayo's subscriptions.

If you do not already have a My NCBI account, you will need to create one.

Go to your My NCBI account home page. Log in if you are not already logged in.

In the Preferences tab, click on Outside Tool (see below).

Select Mayo Clinic College of Medicine from the list of choices, and click on the green Save button.

Now, whenever you are logged into My NCBI, the get it! button will appear in the upper right corner of the citation page as usual.

Remember, if you are not on Mayo's network, you will not have access to the Libraries' subscriptions.
