Detailed Libby Setup Instructions

Follow these step-by-step instructions to install Libby on your device and login. 

  1. If you haven't already, install Microsoft Authenticator on your device.
  2. If you have a new phone, you will need to reactivate your Microsoft Authenticator. 
  3. Install the Libby app from the iOS or Android app store. (Libby for iOS) (Libby for Android)
  4. Open the Libby app and click the center button on the bottom toolbar
  5. Search for and select Mayo Clinic Library in the list of libraries.
  6. Click "sign in with my card" and then click "next".
  7. You will see this message: “Libby” wants to use “overdrive.com” to sign in. Click continue.
  8. Sign in to your Mayo Clinic account using your Mayo Clinic email address and password. Enter your email address manually, even if it already appears in the box. 
  9.  Microsoft Authenticator will pop up asking for your approval to sign in to Libby.  Once you approve, you will move back into Libby and be signed in. 

If you are still unable to connect, try the following:

  • Close all open apps and sign in to Libby again.  
  • Try repeating the process again after waiting a few minutes.
  • If you are still unable to login after several failed attempts, please contact the library for additional help. 
  • A call to the Help Desk (507-284-5500) may be necessary to ensure Microsoft Authenticator is functioning correctly.

Troubleshooting Microsoft Authenticator Issues

Libby uses Microsoft Authenticator to verify your access to the Mayo Clinic Libraries Libby collection.
